Whenever I peruse prose or poetry, I look up the words I don’t know in a dictionary, and if I like a word a lot or think it’ll be useful for later, I’ll record its definition somewhere. I used to read packets and books that were filled with lovely words for me to memorize daily, and I still have them with me, so I’ll sometimes reread sections to refresh my memory. Although I love discovering new words, I know how tedious it can be to memorize them with flashcards. I enjoy using those words in sentences, because not only is it easier for me to remember them but also it can be a fun challenge when I’m bored—some words are harder than others to form sentences.
